Remember Traver Rains of Heatherette? Yes, the same Traver Rains who is Paris Hilton’s real bff, guest judged Project Runway’s season two and three finales, and hosted America’s Next Top Model five times!
Since Heatherette, Travor has pursued his other passion, photography. One look at his new brand, T. Rains, and Traver’s photography brilliance is evident. The designer said, "My idea with this collection is to cross pollinate photography and tees - each tends to inspire the other. The cowboy thing is obvious, but I also felt like adding some sex and roughness to it - both in images and design.” T. Rains first season, Men’s Room Collection, is truly visionary. The new tees are screened with processed pictures from his own photo collection. Travor draws upon a similar glam, glitz, and color we came to expect from Heatherette, then adds a dose of racy vintage.
It’s rare and refreshing to see a designer with high-end credibility designing such a playful line. The entire collection features intriguing paradoxes. 60’s pop art collides with rugged retro western Americana. Runway designer designs Big Macs and naked cowboys. Beautiful artwork features animals smoking cigarettes. Travor’s fine photography creates potentially offensive, likely controversial, always witty, and ultimately brilliant pieces. If a New York hipster and rural upstate rancher had a fashionable baby boy, he would grow up to epitomize T. Rains.
